- Development of global programs on conservation
- Gather, generate, and analyze information
- Organize a global network of institutions and resources
- Integrate genetical management programs on captive populations
- Development of programs on management of wild populations
- Development of research projects in wild and captive species
- Promote international cooperation in:
- Projects on conservation and management of wetlands
- Programs for conservation and research on endemisms centers and, floral and faunal refuges
- International programs for conservation and research on threatened species
- International and regional programs of education on conservation
- Promote international Master Plan applied to species and ecosystems
- Initiate in collaboration with other organizations, contacts with multilateral and bilateral aid agencies in order to promote conservation programs to the ecosystems, endemisms centers and species
- Promote or convey the stud book of regional or international programs on management of captive populations as a measure of conservation
- Establishment of ethical criteria for the development of programs in conservation, reintroduction and extraction, according to IUCN recommendations
- Publish journals related with our areas of interest
- Maintain a WWW site in URL http://cires.org.ve, with educational purposes
- Construction and maintenance of a Data Base
